15. Last Blog-A-Roo

I am at this point writing my last blog, and I must admit it is quite a joyful entry. If you have read any of my previous blogs you have noticed my overall distaste for this assignment and my anticipation for this assignment to end. I do however believe that this assignment was a effective, no matter how much i disliked it. I am actually thinking about continuing writing a blog on my own after this class is over. It will be quite a bit more enjoyable without set criteria and a Sunday due dates. I do wish i had been more open and worked a harder on my blogs. Every blog i wrote was written on Sunday afternoon after 2 pm which is not very effective for producing a great blog. I am happy with my blogs though and glad to have this assignment over with.

12. Thank Goodness For Thanksgiving

Just when i thought i had enough of school and couldn't take anymore Thanksgiving break came along to give me a much needed vacation from the stress of 8 am classes and homework. I traveled to Arkansas for my thanksgiving to my grandparent's house where i was able to see all of my family except one cousin who was sick. It was the first time in a while that all 5 of the children in my family managed to make it up there. I also got to see my aunt Mary which was very enjoyable since i haven't seen her in quite awhile and i think she enjoyed seeing us as well. I was also able to hunt which i haven't done recently. I did come up empty handed searching for that elusive buck, but my 16 year old sister killed her first deer. We were all proud although she claims it is her first and last deer. The highlight was of course the food and fellowship of thanksgiving dinner. I certainly realized how blessed i was to have such a great family full of loving people. (and a family full of such great cooks). After thanksgiving i then drove down to long beach and had a great weekend hanging out with friends and just relaxing. Now i suppose its back to the grindstone. Time to prepare for exams and the end of the semester, only two more weeks though. I am hoping they will fly by just like this semester has. In close i hope all had a great Thanksgiving and that they realized how blessed we all are.

10. Winter Memories and Hope

The cold weather is here and with it many fond memories and also a sense of anticipation for the making of new memories. I am myself more of a summer person but it always seems that the most fond memories and the best remembered are made in this time. I seem to catch myself recalling times from high school sitting around a fire on a cold winter night after a football game drinking root beer, of course, enjoying each others company. I have to say that I have found that i miss this. College brings all sorts of new good times and experiences but as of now i dont have really close friends here like i did at home. I know that in time they will come but i still miss the old times in high school when everything was so easy. Also this time of the year is joyful in that it is the coming of basketball season. My brother and i have been playing basketball for most of our lives and this time of year always seemed to bring us closer together.(even if fights did sometimes ensue on the court) Only being two years apart we had the gift of being able to play on the same teams and his senior year i was is substitute when ever he needed a breather. I never have been as good as him partly since i am only 6 foot 4 and he is 6 foot 8 ( i have beat him in a 1 on 1 game once in my life which he of course claimed a cheated). Back to the point though this time of year makes me miss him more then ever. My brother and i are pretty close and now that i am here at MC and he is at Spring Hill we dont get to see each other much being as we both still play basketball this time of the year is very hectic. Which is why i am so very much looking forward to Thanksgiving break. It will give me a chance to see him and hopefully we can both bag a buck over the break and hopefully mine will be bigger. I guess the point of this blog is to explain why i love this time of year so much and to explain to myself why i have been homesick lately which i usualy never am. All in all i just suppose i am ready for this semester to end so i can go home to all my family and friends and be able to catch up and share our many experiences from our first venture out into the world.

9. Semester's Close

As this semester draws to a close i realize how much i have missed out on and how much I haven't done that i should have done. Also i realize that in one class i have an uphill battle to get the A i want instead of a C. It seems to be a never ending cycle in life of regret for procrastination(or it least there is in my life). I wish i was more serious about grades and school sooner in the semester. Not only that but i wish i had rushed and that i had spent more weekends on campus earlier on in the semester instead of making trips to other colleges. Not much i can do about it now but continue on in the end of semester frenzy trying to get the grades i want. I always have next semester to look forward to and i have learned many lessons this semester that will help with in the years to come. My grade in english especially might suffer due to a nonchalant "guesstamation" i made on Dr.Miller's age based on a remarks he made to us during conditioning for baksetball. Now that i have had time to actually think about it i would say that he looks like a very healthy thirty-five year old, and i am not only saying this to improve my grade but some bonus points would be apperciated. Yet another short post from me but i had trouble getting my password to log on and also i have practice at 3 so it cant be helped.

7. Blog Time Yet Again

I am writing blog from Mckee dorm on MSU campus. It has been a pretty good weekend and although i am not ready to enter into a new week of class and homework i am satisfied with how this weekend went. I started off the weekend at MC for follies which i found quite enjoyable the hosts did an awesome job in my opinion and i really enjoyed the civitian skit and dance, which i had a few friends participate in. The other skits and dances were good as well. Saturday morning i had practice at 9 then around 12 i headed up to MSU with a friends from Millsaps and made it up in time for tailgating in the junction. The game was fairly enjoyable although it was a bit cold and i just so happened not to bring a jacket or hoodie to the game. After the game we went to the student union and ate then off to the fraternities where we saw project pat and a few other bands. So all in all a good weekend. I do wish that MC had more to do on its campus although this weekend there was a fair amount to do. Also basketball is starting to take up alot of my free time which is somewhat of a good thing. My days seem to go by quicker now that basketball has started up. I am about to start the drive back to Clinton now and start on my rough draft for Dr.Miller's class due tomorrow at 1.

6. Sunday Afternoon=Blog Time

Yet again its Sunday afternoon and an hour until my blog is due so i suppose its time to get started. For the most part i would have to say that this past week was pretty good. It was a 3 day week which is always amazing. Also basketball started this week and thus far practice has been a blast. It is hard however to transition back into the roll of a lowly freshman after running the show last year in high school and being one of the go to guys. Going from starting every game to not being sure weather or not i will make the travel squad and dress out. But i suppose thats just how things go. Its nothing but motivation to work harder and give a little more. The one thing that is nice about being a freshman is that not much is expected of you. Which means anything you do is seen as a plus. I sometimes wonder if i should have gone to a juco instead, but as of now i am here and i might as well just make the best of it and see where i am at next year. On top of the basketball situation the MC campus is just plain boring. Weekends are ridiculously bland and i seem to always want to be somewhere else. Thus far i have spent weekends at MSU USM USA and Spring Hill and one weekend at home while only spending two weekends on campus. I have to say that i loathe staying on campus on the weekends and every chance i get to spend my weekends somewhere else i will.

So this is the sixth blog and i have to admit i am pretty tired of using my Sunday afternoons rushing to write something. I really dont have much to say and tying what i do have to say in with the mission statement is near impossible. I will be quite happy when i dont have to write these anymore. When i can spend my Sunday afternoons watching football games and taking naps.

5. My Weekend on Campus

I have been told that i am in the bottom half of those writing blogs and that my posts are too short and that i do not comment on other peoples blogs. Therefore i suppose it is time to step up my game when it comes to doing these blogs otherwise my grade will suffer.

This weekend my sister's volleyball team came up to MC to play for the state championship so even though it is fall break i ended up staying on campus. My best friend who plays d1 basketball came to see me this weekend, which is pretty amazing since he is so busy with basketball practicing 4 times a day. Also my family from Long Beach came up to see my sister play so i got to show them the campus and spend a lot of time with them. On top of all this my sister played very well and they won south state although they did end up losing a very close game to south haven.

All in all it was a great weekend that I really enjoyed even though the campus was pretty much completely dead. As well as having a great weekend i now have two more days of nothing to do so i suppose i ll be going home, and writing my response paper(thank you Dr.Miller). I hope this post is long enough to reach the requirements and i suppose i ll go and post some comments on other peoples pages now and try to enjoy the rest of my fall break before i have to come back to this mundane existence known as college life.

First Weekend Home

Well I am about to head back to MC from my first weekend back home and its strange but i am somewhat anxious to get back. Home doesnt quite seem like home anymore. Strangely enough i miss my bed in the dorm and the freedom to do whatever i want whenever i want. It was nice to come home and see family and friends but this weekend concreted the fact that things are just different.

Also this weekend i went to visit my brother at Spring Hill and went to bay fest on saturday. I had a great time seeing Puddle of Mudd, Kid Rock, Candlebox, and BuckCherry. I also enjoyed getting to spend sometime with my brother since we dont see each other very often.

All in all i would have to say it was a pretty good weekend and i am ready to get this week of school over with so i can relax and waste my life away on fall break next weekend.

4. First Weekend On Campus

Although we have been in school a little more then a month now this weekend is the first that i have spent on campus. I have been home once(thanks to gustav), to southern miss, Mississippi State, and to Arkansas. Now that i have run out of gas money i suppose i ll be staying on campus more.
My first weekend on campus wasn't to bad, a bit boring i must admit, but at night things could be found to do. The Civitan/Laguna dance in Jennings hall was something to do Friday night. Followed by a college football extravaganza on Saturday, which was highlighted by Ole Miss's win over Florida.
I am not too sure how this ties into the mission statment at all, but all in all i would have to say it was a pretty good weekend. Even if it was a times quite boring. I do however have fall break to look forward to next weekend, so i hoping that this week ahead of me flys by.

2. First Full Week

My first full week of college is now complete and I have to say it was somewhat of an accomplishment. Between writing papers, doing homework, and wasting my life away on facebook, I didn't have much free time to myself. Only four more years of college left(how exciting). As well as our first full week of school starting up, voluntary weight lifting and conditioning started up, led by none other then our own Dr.Miller.

Although these workouts were somewhat strenous it was made easier by the comradare on the basketball team. Although i have only been here three weeks it feels like I am for the most part accepted on the team, which is not common everywhere. I have played for two high schools, many aau teams, and I played a brief stint of basketball overseas these summer and everywhere you go they dont accept you in until you prove yourself to be as good or better then they are. At MC this isnt so.

I am not sure how exactly this was stated in the Mission Statement, but I am sure it has something in there about friendship and comradare. It might even fall under the Christian Enviorment mentioned in the Statement. Either way i am quite pleased with how things are turning out.

1. Beginning Blog

I ll begin my blog by telling you a little about myself. My name is Micah McNally and i am a freshman here at MC(as most of you could tell). I am come from a fairly large family of five siblings that are all quite competitive and athletic. I am somewhat tall and i enjoy sports and just being active, i am also an avid reader. I am from Long Beach Mississippi and I am looking forward to this first year of college.
I suppose I came here for almost all the reasons on the mission statement, which is somewhat weird to me. The number one reason i came here is basketball. I didn't get any offers from any division one schools and I didn't want to go to a Junior College, which left Mississippi College and Millsaps (not much of choice at all). Also the location of the school is just far enough away from home. A three hour drive isn't too far, but then again it isn't too close either. The least important reason i came here was the Christian environment which is disappointing to me when i think about it. It is the most important thing out of the three reasons and yet it is the last thing on my list. Now that i am here the Christian environment has come the forefront of the things that make MC different from most colleges.
Even though the reasons that drew me to Mississippi College are not the most noble reasons I am still glad and excited to be here. No matter the reasons I am here now and ready to "do some damage". Next week I plan on doing my post before 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon, but i suppose i finished none the less.
